THE WARDS, a multi-award winning family group who began singing 40 years ago. The vocalists are the  daughters of Mike and Linda Ward, Gail Ward Childers and Julia Ward Martinez.  Mike and Linda founded the Wards and have recently passed on to be in the arms of Jesus.  The Wards have a style of their very own, blending tight family harmony while writing their own blend of Country Gospel/ Southern Gospel music. The Wards desire is to share the love of Christ with all walks of life and use that love to set the captive free. The Wards are a not for profit ministry and work on a free will love offering basis.  They would consider it an honor to minister at your congregation or event.

Malcom ( Mike) Ward, founder of The Wards

It is with such a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our father, the founder of The Wards Ministry, Rev. Malcom (Mike) G. Ward. He has now joined Momma, Linda F Ward, and their youngest son, Michael Paul Ward in the Eternal.

We had a Celebration of Life Service for dad on February 10,  2018 at Biltmore Christ Temple in Asheville, NC.  Dad had so many people who loved and admired him.  I am proud to say that this man is our dad.

Along with the newly regrouped Wards,  Evangelist Richard Kitchens sang two beautiful songs and gave a word of honor. Rev. Roger Hutchins, spoke about the friendship and anointing of dad. Jaydeen Georgeff (dad called her his adopted daughter) sang two of his favorite songs that she wrote.  Our dear friends, Burning Bridges, ( Dean and Anita Asaro) ministered under the anointing in honor of our father.  David Clyde Haynes, a friend of ours and our dad, sang a beautiful tribute to dad.  Rev. Kris Hise, gave us a few chuckles from memories of dads sense of humor. Last but not least, our pastor and life long friend, Trish Fountain spoke a timely word and honored my dad greatly. Our friends Donna H Pauley, Sandra Roberts Hoyle, Brianna Langford and Shirley Langford did an amazing job of organizing and putting this event together beautifully.  I am overwhelmed at the work that they put into honoring him.

As hard as it is to imagine singing without the man whom I have sang with for over 40 years, we must press on.  A gift and calling that is birthed in you can’t  be stifled.  We have prayed on the decision and are using this time step into our new journey and we know the Lord will bring into our path all that he has laid out for us.

Our ministry motto is ” Here I am, Lord, Send me”.  Where you lead, I’ll follow, anywhere you open up the doors. Just to be a witness of your unfailing love and grace.

THE PASSING OF MOTHER WARD

50 Year Anniversary

Mrs. Linda F Ward, co-founder of The Wards.

The Wards are saddened to announce that Mrs. Linda F Ward, wife of 51 years to REV. Mike G Ward, began her journey in the Eternal July 24, 2016.  Together her and Mike formed The Wards 40 years ago, traveling, preaching and singing together as a family all over the southeast.  Mother Ward was a vital part of the group with her astounding lead vocals and as manager of the family group.  She inspired her husband to write his first song, Day of  Jubilee.  Her children looked up to her ability to learn a new song quickly and adapt to any new situation with grace. Due to sickness she was unable to sing with them for the last few years but still loved to travel and look upon her grown children and husband with pride as they continued to  minister to others. After many long years, in 2015 her greatest joys were fulfilled when she shared in her family winning multiple awards in the music industry and they have gone on to be recognized by their peers and fans as they minister from their heart to others.

  7. I was so glad my husband and I came to homecoming today at East Garrison Baptist Church in Gastonia, N.C. I met my husband at this church on 09/19/1982 and we got married in this church on 03/24/1984. I have a lot of memories at this church and now I have the memories of listening to all the great songs you all sung today. I am so glad I brought the cd with the Bible Revival, Till The Storm Passes By and many more. This week coming up is always hard for me because on 09/14/2009 I lost my brother with cancer and on 09/16/2010 I lost my mother. On February 18, 2016 my husband at the age of 55 had a heart attack and I am so thankful to God for saving him and giving us this opportunity to be able to come today to homecoming and to listen to all the beautiful songs. Sitting in the church listening to all the songs gave me a blessing today. I will be listening to the cd a lot especially this week. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful voices today.

    • Dear Wanda, I’m sorry for the difficult time this week brings. My special prayer is that you will have happy memories to laugh about. I’m thankful that you enjoyed yourself!
I hope you are blessed many times from the cd.
      Gail
